PORTRAIT
Frank De Mulder is a Belgian photographer who has just celebrated his 50th birthday (1964). He received his first camera from his father at the age of 12. From then on, he quickly became a fanatic of film imaging in his darkroom. At 17, he began to copy the photos of David Hamilton. At the time, he invested all his pocket money in photographic equipment and learned from books the different light and photography techniques. then completed his studies at the Royal Art Academy in Ghent, from which he graduated with the congratulations of the jury. He then did his military service in the film division and made a few war films
Frank De Mulder began his career as a cameraman and director of photography in several short films and commercials. At the age of 29, he decided that photography was his true passion. Since then he has made his way and works for major advertising campaigns and magazines, including Playboy, FHM, GQ... Today he is best known as an artistic nude photographer. As it takes two to tango, Frank works with his artistic partner, Michèle van Damme, to whom he entrusts the artistic direction and post-production of his works.&
He has just acquired a third studio with her. His images take us far beyond clichés and show us his interpretation of the world as a painting or a sketch. The photographs are never provocative, but balance on the border of the forbidden. Everything in his photographs is purely aesthetic and a quest for purity. The woman who offers her naked body to the eye of the photographer sees herself sublimated. With Frank, eroticism is imbued with mystery but never with vulgarity. He immortalizes his sensual and erotic women and captures moments of intimacy and beauty by captivating the senses. It captivates and fascinates. De Mulder has an unrivaled sense of sophistication, to craft captivating and erotic scenarios. He creates and shapes a complex and singular narrative. His provocation is nuanced, he makes us live his models, he makes us understand them, in a dramatic and erotic tension combined with a romantic and luxurious plot.

I like when she is enthusiastic, open-minded and creative just like me. In fact, I appreciate when she takes initiative. I love when I just have to capture the moment rather than directing or managing a pose.
- What is your vision of the nude?
When the nude photography is well done, is well done, it never gets old, it doesnt age. You can do two things: a nice but nondescript portrait, or capture something with a story. With the nude, you can do both, and the two are completely different.
