PORTRAIT

Stefan Rappo is the photographer of emotion. Simple, clean, unvarnished images, free from sophisticated staging, a return to the natural state and a focus on feelings. With a cinematographic look, his shots are silent and poetic short films, odes to women. What is striking is the calm and serenity. The spectator, although kept at a distance, interferes in the intimacy of the play which is played, a drama behind closed doors, where the palpable tensions jostle and mix to form a narration. At the age of 30, Stefan Rappo left Switzerland and his profession to go to a photography school and became the assistant of Camilla Akrans, Bruno Aveillan, then that of Peter Lindbergh, for more than 4 years now. At the same time, he works on personal projects, cinematographic productions, female nudes and some more commercial work, in particular certain lessons for Aubade. These shoots are open, based on spontaneity and freedom, as if out of control, to give free rein to the elements, and create life in arranged constructions.
